The Bottle Shop: a not-so-common beer place in BGC

Our pilot episode: a midnight hunt for food in BGC that ended at a shop full of imported craft beer.

Shelves of imported beer bottles at The Bottle Shop in BGC

This was our very first episode. We went to BGC for a little photo shoot, and by the time we were done it was close to midnight. If you’ve ever tried to find an open restaurant in BGC at that hour, you know the struggle.

Midnight in BGC

The first places we tried were packed. One spot was full of teenagers, and standing in that crowd made us feel like a tito and tita on a school night. We walked on, noticed how many traffic lights BGC has once the streets go quiet, and eventually found a place closer to our age.

The Bottle Shop

Then we stumbled on The Bottle Shop, a beer place with a long list of imported craft beers. The staff pointed us to their best seller for IPAs, from Stone Brewing, and showed us a few things we’d never seen: a dark stout with Sriracha in it, and a mango IPA from Craftpoint. They also taught us the right way to pour beer into a glass (tilt it, don’t pour straight down).

Reb took to it right away. Val, not really a beer person, asked for something sweeter, and still admitted the aftertaste was good.

Worth it?

Yes, if you like trying beers you won’t find in a convenience store. We left saying we should come back often, and we did keep coming back to beer places, as the next episodes show.
